Deprem is an independent site that merges the earthquake solutions published by AFAD, Kandilli Observatory, EMSC and USGS into one catalogue. AFAD is the official authority for earthquake information and disaster management in Turkey.

How are earthquakes merged?
Reports from different sources are the same earthquake when their origin times differ by at most 30 seconds, their epicentres by at most 50 km and their magnitudes by at most 0.6. Inside Turkey the AFAD solution is preferred, then Kandilli; elsewhere USGS, then EMSC. Every revision of every source is kept and compared on the earthquake page.
Coverage: every magnitude in Turkey and its surroundings (latitude 34–43.5, longitude 24–46); magnitude 4.0 and above elsewhere.
Expected intensity
Expected intensity is the peak ground acceleration of the Akkar–Sandıkkaya–Bommer (2014) ground-motion model (Joyner–Boore distance, Vs30 760 m/s, strike-slip) converted to Modified Mercalli intensity with Worden et al. (2012). Real shaking can differ with soil and building.
Privacy
"Did you feel it" reports are stored only as an H3 cell of about 0.7 km²; coordinates are not recorded. This site uses no cookies or ad trackers. Your browser keeps a random id (to avoid duplicate reports) and your theme choice locally.
